The Board of the European Association for Urban History (EAUH) invites current PhD and master’s degree students to submit their conference paper for the EAUH 2026 Student Prizes.
Formal requirements:
- The paper must be written by a registered PhD student or a (recently graduated) MA student;
- The paper must be accepted for one of the conference sessions;
- The conference paper must be based on original, innovative research that offers a new perspective on urban history;
- The paper must not exceed 5,000 words, excluding references.
How to apply:
- Submit your paper for the student prizes through the provided form on the EAUH2026 platform (authentication required). The deadline is 17 August 2026.
The jury, comprising of Erika Hanna, José Luis Oyón, Roey Sweet, Katalin Szende and Ilja Van Damme, will select the four best student papers: one on pre-1900 history and three on post-1900 history. The winning authors will each receive € 250, and will also have the opportunity to publish their articles in Urban History. They will benefit from individual mentoring from the journal’s editorial team while revising their articles for publication.
The winners will be announced during the closing ceremony on Friday 4 September 2026.
